Certain actions in which you engage on the Site may trigger the collection of additional Personally Identifiable Information. Here are some examples:
Promotions and Contests. These Promotions may also prompt registrants to answer survey questions. Any personally identifiable information collected through promotions will be treated as Personal Information. No purchase is ever necessary to enter a Promotion. Please see the official rules of each Promotion for more information.
We may co-sponsor Promotions with other companies, in which case any information collected is likely to be shared with other participating sponsors, who may use this information as they wish. A registrant’s personal contact and demographic information will not be released to any third party organization, other than the named sponsors, without the registrant’s consent.
Surveys and Polls. We may conduct anonymous surveys and polls of users to the Site to obtain aggregate demographic information. Such information may be compiled and shared in the aggregate with advertisers and other third parties, but no personal details will be traceable or associated with specific individuals unless otherwise specified in the survey rules.
Third Party Information. You may choose to sign up for certain promotions, newsletters, or affiliated publications on behalf of another person. We may use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server. In addition, in our letters to the editor section, we typically disclose the city or town in which the letter-writer resides.
We may also use both Non-Personally Identifiable Information and Personally Identifiable Information to tailor your experience at our Site, to improve the content of the Site (such as by analyzing trends to improve the Site’s design and content), and for systems administration and trouble-shooting purposes. This information may also be shared with our subscribers and advertisers on an aggregate non-personal basis.
We will not sell or otherwise share your Personally Identifiable Information with third parties, except in the following circumstances: to transfer such information among our company offices, affiliates, or third party service providers for administrative or customer service purposes; if duly authorized to do so; if required to do so by law; if necessary in order to protect the rights of JNS; if necessary as part of a sale of other disposition of JNS’s assets; to comply with a court order or government investigation; in response to subpoena; or if it becomes necessary to do so to protect the rights, property, or personal safety of JNS, its employees and agents, users of the Site, or the public.
